Summary: Research study for men with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms due to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

To be in this study you should:

  • Be at least 50 years of age
  • Have had signs and symptoms of BPH for at least 6 months
  • Have problems with urine flow
  • Be able to visit the study doctor's office 10 times
  • Agree not to use any other oral treatment for BPH, including alpha blockers or herbal medications during the study

You cannot participate in the study if you:

  • Are taking prostate medications

  • Have a urinary tract infection, are unable to urinate due to blockage, or have a large amount of urine remaining in your bladder after urinating

  • Have prostatitis or chronic pelvic pain

  • Have significant health problems

  • Have uncontrolled high or low blood pressure

  • Have uncontrolled diabetes

  • Have prostate cancer

  • Have psychiatric disorders or drug or alcohol abuse
